Aclarar sombras
Light the shadows

Muchas veces al tomar una imagen con mucha luz obtenemos sombras oscuras. En éste ejemplo vamos a aclarar las sombras de la parte inferior del plato en la fuente.

Many times, when we take a snapshot very iluminated, we get dark shadowed areas. In this example we are going to bring those dark-under-the-plate of the fountain areas to light.

Duplicamos la capa actual usando la opción del menú: CAPA > DUPLICAR CAPA como vemos en la imagen de abajo.

Duplicate the current layer by using the menu option: CAPA > DUPLICAR CAPA as we can see in the next image.

Esta capa, ahora contiene valores que neutralizarían la capa de abajo (FONDO) si intentáramos mezclarlas. Si ponemos la primer capa a SUMAR, pero en un porcentaje menor, lograremos que sòlo las zonas claras de la capa de arriba aclaren las zonas oscuras de la imagen de abajo.

This layer, now cas values to neutralice the lower layer (FONDO means Background). If we set the ADD mode to the upper layer, with low Opacity values, the white values, brings details over dark areas in the lower layer.

Este es el resultado final, supongo que los valores de mezcla pueden variar, y en el caso de imágenes con colores fuertes, debemos tener cuidado porque perderemos la saturación de color, por ello es que a veces conviene DESATURAR la capa superior. Si la imagen final como vemos abajo en la imagen de la derecha queda con tan poco color podemos contrastarla usando CURVAS, el ajuste de CONTRASTE o los NIVELES del menú COLOR.

This is the final result, I guess the mix values may vary, if you have a very colored image (saturated), we must be carefull because we will loose saturation, that`s why we could DESATURATE first the upper layer of the lower one is too colored. If the final image as we see at the bottom-right, we can now use CURVES, LEVELS, or CONTRAST options from the COLOR menu.
