Actualizar Software - Software Update

En otros sistemas operativos, para actualizar el sistema tenemos que esperar 2 o 3 años a que una nueva versión reemplace el núcleo del sistema o bien instalar parches que solucionan alguna cosita aquí o allá, pero usualmente es un proceso engorroso, cada aplicación sólo puede ser actualizada por quien la provee y en los tiempos que considere oportuno por lo tanto MANTENER LA PC AL DIA es una idea que puede ser tortuosa, problemática y hasta incluso CARA, en ubuntu de forma gratuita accedemos a repositorios que contienen miles de paquetes con software, y podemos actualizar cualquier parte del sistema en cualquier momento, incluso el mismo núcleo del sistema pueden ser cambiado de una semana a la otra, y seconsidera a ésta operación algo rutinario.

Ubuntu en algún momento que está conectado a internet comparará la versión de los programas que están en el equipo y si existen versiones más nuevas de ellos nos mostrará la indicación que vemos en la imagen, 315 paquetes ya tienen una versión nueva que los actualiza en el repositorio.
Ya sea el núcleo del sistema, el entorno, el programa de mensajería, o incluso TODA LA DISTRO puede fácilmente actualizarse con sólo alguno clicks.

When the PC is connected to internet, ubuntu may know which of the installed software has and update by comparing the version number with the packages in the repositories, so it may alert you that new packages are aviable as you may see in the image, I have 315 old packages, which can be apdated. You may upgrade anything installed, from the messenger program to the system kernel or even ALL THE PACKAGES installed with just a few clicks.

cuando clickeamos en el ícono rojo aparece ésta ventana con todas las actualizaciones disponibles, 315 actualizaciones son muuuchs paquetes, incluso el núcleo y el servidor del vídeo están involucrados, aunque no me interesa nada de eso, sólo clickeo en INSTALAR ACTUALIZACIONES y que ubuntu haga el resto.

When the red icon is clicked, this window appears with all the 315 áckages selected to upgrade, A lot of packages, many programs, the video server, and even the core of the system we cal KERNEL, well I don´t care what, simpli click on INSTALL UPGRADES boton at the rigth and ubuntu will take care of everyting.

Ubuntu pide la contraseña del administrador para continuar ya que los usuarios sin privilegios no pueden instalar software.

Ubuntu wants to autorize the operarion and asks for the administrator´s password, any unprivileged software won´t be able to install anything.

Dependiendo de cuantos paquetes sean la operación puede tomar más o menos tiempo, el dálogo de progreso le muestra el avance, la velocidad de descarga que es como vemos muy buena, casi 87 kb/s, y el tiempo que queda, en éste caso 41 minutos con 34 segundos, buen momento para ir a preparar un café

the time the download will take varies with the size and amount of packages, the progress windows shows the download speed, which seems good like 78kb/s and the remaining time 41minutes with 34 seconds. Good time for preparing coffe, don´t you think?

Cuando termina la descarga, el software empieza a instalarse... sigan tomando el café tranquilos

Bueno, cuando la descarga termina, pueden seguir usando su equipo, algunas operaciones como el actualizar el núcleo le pedirá que reinicie aunque sin ningún apuro, supongo que eso es todo, ya está todo actualizado, lamento decirles que esto es todo lo que deben hacer pero como ven es fácil y seguro, cuando haya nuevas actualizaciones el sistema te lo hará saber así es ubuntu.

Well, when the download ends, you may keep using your computer, some operations request to restart but is not necesary to do ir right away, is more a suggestionno rugh about it, I guess that´s all for the apdate process, as you see easy and secure, when new update appear the system will let you know that´s how ubuntu works.
