En ubuntu, para agregar o quitar aplicaciones contamos con un sistema de paquetes online que esperan a ser instalados por nosotros en cualquier momento (el equipo debe estar conectado a internet), para hacer ésto hay varias formas, aunque la más simple es utilizando la opción del menú Aplicaciones>Añadir/Eliminar.

In ubuntu to there is a online system of packages to add new software, waiting to be installed when the user asks for install (the system must have internet access) there are many ways to do it. The simplest one is by using the Aplications>Add/Eliminate aplications menu option.

El programa revisa el repositorio online para encontrar las ultimas versiones de cada paquete disponible en el mismo para poder listarlos en la lista de software disponible.

The program checks the repositories online to find if new versions f the packages are aviable, and populates the siftware list.

La ventana de ANADIR Y QUITAR APLICACIONES está compuesta de la siguiente manera:

1 - Categorías o grupos de aplicaciones.
2 - puede filtrar que aplicaciones mostrará el programa como instalables, no instalados, actualizables, etc.
3 - BUSCAR, permite encontrar rápidamente un paquetew por nombre sin necesidad de navegar las categorías de software, lo que puede parecer un poco tonto, pero cuando agreguemos más repositorios, miles de nuevos programas estarán disponibles y navegarlos podría tomar mucho tiempo.
4 - en ésta area seleccionamos que software tildar para que lo instale, y si está ya marcado y lo desmarcamos estamos DESINSTALANDO ese paquete, el programa resolverá instalar/desinstalar los paquetes secundarios que pueda necesitar cada aplicación, a ésto se llama RESOLVER DEPENDENCIAS.(Ubuntu no tiene problemas de registro como ocurre con windows por ejemplo que a veces cuando se remueve una aplicacion deja instalado algun paquete que molesta, detiene o hace fallar la PC, los usuarios de ubuntu no tienen dichos problemas)
5 - el área de información tiene una descripción del paquete seleccionado y toda la información que el autor del mismo desea que sepamos, el sitio oficial de ése software, sitios para bajar plugins, tutoriales, etc.
cuando terminamos de agregar o quitar aplicaciones, debemos clickear el boton APLICAR CAMBIOS que está en la parte inferior derecha.

The ADD/REMOVE APLICATIONS window has the following areas:

1 - Categories or aplication groups.
2 - Filter the aplications to be shown by installed, not installed or upgradeable.
3 - search is useful when you add more and more repositories, many new packages will be aviable for you, so navigate them will be impractical at some point, and you may want to find a specific aplication by its name.
4 - The software list has all the packages, in this case the installed are checked and the empty box means that the app is not installed, when click on one of those, you are merking it to install, if the package is checked and you uncheck it, you will be marking it for remove from the system, all the dependen packages will be installed or removed by the system cleanl, this process is called RESOLVING DEPENDENCIES and is automatic (in windows the registry is where the apps are registeded when you install or deinstall, and many times on removal windows leaves garbage package or calls to unexisting packages, ubuntu users don´t have those problems).
5 - the informations area, shows a description of the selected package, as the author/project website, websites to get plugins or resources, etc. Once you selected the packages, click on the APPLY CHANGES boton at the rigth bottom.

EL programa confierma que estemos seguros de la operación que vamos a realizar, si es así click en el botón APLICAR.

The program open a popup to confirm the packages selectionm click apply boton to confirm.

El proceso de instalación es rápido ya que utiliza tecnologías P2P para transferir miles de fragmentos desde diferentes parted del mundo para completar el paquete en la pc, de ésta forma se ensamblan en la PC de forma rápida, quienes hayan usado AZUREUS, uTORRENT, Ares o aplicaciones similares se dan una idea de lo rápidas que son las descargas P2P.

The instalations takes a while depending on how much soft we marked, but it´s fast because it uses P2P tecnology to download the files, which means the fragments of each package comes from diferent servers aroun the world at the same time, reassembling the package on the local computer, thos who have used ASUREUS, uTORRENT, Ares, or similar apps know how fast P2P downloads can be.

Cuando el proceso de descarga/reensable/instalación, ha terminadoésta ventana emergente reporta el éxito de la operación, con un botón puede volver a la ventana de selección de paquetes para marcar/desmarcar más software, o bien con el botón CERRAR, se termina con la aplicación.

When the process of download/reassemble/install is finished, this popup reports the new installed packages, with the boton you can go back to the app to add/remove more soft or with the CLOSE boton, finish the process.

Si vamos al menú APLICACIONES>GRAFICOS, podemos ver que INKSCAPE ha sido agregado al sistema, y está listo para ser utilizado.

If you go to the APLICATIONS>GRAPHICS, youmay notice that inkscape has been added to the system and it´s ready to run.
